Good news for north Idahoans. The radical mongrel demanded her felt entitlement and they called her bluff.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010 12:00 am By MAUREEN DOLAN/Staff writer

COEUR d’ALENE PRESS – Rachel Dolezal won’t be working at the Human Rights Education Institute any longer.

Dolezal told The Press Monday that she resigned from the institute because she was the target of discrimination, although she would not say what kind.

“I don’t want to comment on that at this time, just that it’s a justice issue,” Dolezal said. “It’s about fairness and equity.”

Dolezal has been the institute’s director of education since 2008.

Marilyn Muehlbach, president of the Human Rights Education Institute’s board, said she was surprised to hear the charge.

“Discrimination was never discussed,” Muehlbach said. “This is the first we’ve even heard the word used by her in anything related to her employment.”

The board accepted Dolezal’s resignation, Muehlbach said, and wishes her well.

“She did many wonderful things for the HREI, built some great programs,” Muehlbach said.

Dolezal said she submitted a written proposal to the Human Rights Education Institute’s board last week suggesting they give her compensation and authority equivalent to that of the executive director’s position. She gave the board three days to make a decision, and offered her two weeks’ notice if they did not accept her proposal.

Muehlbach wouldn’t discuss the proposal, but said, “She made some demands that we weren’t able to accept.”

Two weeks ago the board hired Dan Lepow, a Philadelphia native who has worked in nonprofit and community organization fundraising for 25 years, to fill a newly created director of development position.

The board decided last week to shorten the title to just “executive director.”

“We needed someone with a background in fundraising and oversight,” Muehlbach said.

Lepow also worked previously as the officer for corporate social responsibility for a large bank in Philadelphia.

Although the board dropped “of development” from Lepow’s title, Muehlbach said fundraising efforts will continue to be the bulk of his work.

“Rachel did not apply for that position,” Muehlbach said.

Dolezal has not, at this time, initiated any legal action against the institute.

“The main thing I want people to know is that I am still 100 percent committed to the causes of human rights,” Dolezal said. “I still intend to offer my time, talent and resources for those causes.”

We here at Radio Free North Idaho have to agree with the many comments on the original article.

I think we might find SOME of the “racist” acts around here might disappear with Ms Dolezal.

None the least of those mysteries is that the Press has been showing inordinate interest in the woman and has failed to look for the stories behind some of her claims.

Woke up tired and a bit grumpy. Just read this, now I’m happy and ready to feel the love today. Artist someone said here…. ah yes, con-artist. It will be fun to see where Dolezal lands and what bovine scatology starts post arrival.

Maybe she’s looking to cash in on that $1,000 bonus they award for filing a discrimination claim. It would come in helpful to supplement her unemployment check.

The local Republican Party central committee’s quibble with the “fiesta” theme of the Bonner County Fair this year is raising eyebrows in Sandpoint, where the party’s planning to decorate its fair booth with Arizona license plates and use “celebrate” as its theme instead.

“The Republicans at BCRCC want to make it very clear that English is our primary language, and call our booths ‘Celebrate!’ and display some Arizona license plates if you have some to spare,” committee Chairman Cornel Rasor, a Bonner County commissioner, wrote in a letter to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

Rasor said, “Having a fiesta theme at the fair was OK with me, I didn’t even think about it ‘til somebody brought it up. But their concerns are very real to them, so I don’t want to downplay it.”

He added, “If I understand it correctly, the word ‘fiesta’ and the word ‘celebrate’ are actually synonyms, and that’s what the people who were concerned about it were talking about, so technically speaking we didn’t have a different theme than the fair – it’s just a different spelling.”

At its monthly meeting in June, the committee voted to “affirm” Arizona’s tough immigration law – a position also taken last month by the Idaho Republican Party at its annual convention – and to send the letter seeking the license plates for the fair booth to Arizona’s governor.

Rasor said an email went around a week before the meeting from members who “didn’t like the idea that it was a Spanish theme, with the border problems. A couple others emailed and said, ‘Chill out, fiesta just means celebration, forget it.’”

Longtime Bonner County Fair Board Chairman Tim Cary of Priest River said, “This has got nothing to do with English or anything else. … We just come up with something that’s fun to decorate with, that’s all we do.”

Last year’s fair theme was “A Black Tie and Blue Jeans Affair,” and in 2008, it was, “Ewe Bee There – It’s Our 80th Fair!” Groups sponsoring booths at the fair or submitting items in fair competitions decorate to the theme to win prizes.

Gail Curless, a Fair Board member, said, “We try to get it chosen by the first of the year, because there’s people who quilt and who do handicrafts and that sort of thing, and they want to know early on.”

She said she supported this year’s “Fiesta at the Fair” theme, which she said will offer lots of colorful options for decorating. “I think it’s a reach to be upset by the word ‘fiesta’ – that’s a big reach,” Curless said. “It’s sort of like making it ‘freedom fries’ instead of french fries.”

Cary noted that one of the fair’s longstanding food attractions is the Mexican food offered at the Search and Rescue booth. “Are we supposed to change the name of a burrito to something in English?” he asked. “I’m thinking there’s some narrow-mindedness here, but that’s just my opinion.”

Sen. Shawn Keough, R-Sandpoint, said she missed last month’s GOP central committee meeting due to high school graduation festivities, and wasn’t sure what message the committee was trying to send.

“The Bonner County fair staff and the Bonner County fair board are terrific people, and I’m sure that their choosing ‘fiesta’ as the theme for the fair had nothing to do with immigration laws,” she said. “They were looking for something that was upbeat and positive.”

Rasor said there were only “two or three that objected to it” on the central committee, and the overall direction from the committee was “to support Arizona, something a lot of committees are doing these days.”

The Coeur d’Alene Police are looking for the men suspected of plastering telephone poles along U.S. Highway 95 with Aryan fliers on Tuesday.

The police took a report Tuesday that two men were putting up fliers on poles along Highway 95 between Neider and Bosanko avenues around 3 p.m.

“This crime falls under city ordinance … and is a misdemeanor,” said police Sgt. Christie Wood in an email. She said the police received solid information from witnesses with vehicle and suspect descriptions, along with a license plate number. “The report will be forwarded to detectives and we will investigate it.”

One of the men was described as a white man with a slender build in his 30s or 40s. He had long brown hair and was wearing a khaki-colored hat on backwards. He had no shirt on and very short jeans shorts with cargo-style pockets. The vehicle was described as a tan Ford Ranger pick-up. Police also have a license plate number but are not releasing it at this time, Wood said.

People all over America are discussing freedom’s future. In short, they are worried. In fact, many are actually talking about State secession. In coffee shops and cafes, and around dining room tables, millions of people are speaking favorably of states breaking away from the union. Not since the turn of the twentieth century have this many people thought (and spoken) this favorably about the prospect of a State (or group of states) exiting the union. In my mind, this is a good thing.

Even many of those who oppose the prospect of secession understand the increasing tyrannical nature of the current central government in Washington, D.C., and that something must be done about it.

The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines tyranny as “1: oppressive power . . . 2: a government in which absolute power is vested in a single ruler . . . 3: a rigorous condition imposed by some outside agency or force . . . 4: a tyrannical act.”

Even a casual observer would have to conclude that most of the actions proceeding forth from DC today match at least Webster’s 1st and 3rd definitions of tyranny. Besides, who would argue the advantage of the tyranny of an oligarchy over the tyranny of a monarchy? A tyranny of many cannot be distinguished from a tyranny of one in most cases–especially not by those poor souls who are at the point of the spear of Government’s cruelties.

The fact is, there is collusion between Big Government and Big Business (as each feeds and profits off the other) to strip the American people of their God-given liberties. Without a shadow of a doubt, had America’s Founding Fathers not sagaciously cemented the Second Amendment into the US Constitution, the Jackboots would have marched over us years ago.

That freedom-loving people are reaching a point of frustration–and even fury–is quite understandable. And State secession is, very properly, the last best option for freedomists to maintain fidelity to the principles of liberty. All of America’s founders understood this–all of them! And millions of modern-day American patriots are just now beginning to become reacquainted with this great, historic doctrine.

However, whether one subscribes to the doctrine of secession or not is quite immaterial. The breakup of the US is inevitable! Short of another Great Awakening, nothing can stop it. And given the spiritual deadness of most American churches these days, the prospect of a modern-day national revival seems remote at best.

It is a historical fact that no empire can sustain itself. And America is more and more becoming a global empire. For the sake of simplicity, I ask readers to ponder this question: How can one sustain a global economy without global government to manage and control it? Answer: One can’t. Continue Reading…

It all started with five businessmen from Spokane sketching plans for a bay-cuddled hamlet, where they dreamed folks could lounge on float homes and fishing boats would stir the waters.

Since then, the city of Bayview has evolved, from hosting lime quarries to sprouting successful businesses.

Yet after 100 years, it still remains relatively hidden from the world.

And it’s worth celebrating.

Bayview will hold its primary Centennial celebration on May 29, and everyone is invited, said resident historian Linda Hackbarth.

“Lots of people in Coeur d’Alene say, ‘I’ve never been to Bayview,’” Hackbarth said of the small resort town an hour north of Coeur d’Alene.

“Sometimes we never explore our nearby areas, yet we travel hundreds of miles to see something someplace else.”

The city has been holding small centennial celebrations every month to honor the year of 1910, when the Prairie Development Company in Spokane first planned out the city.

The festivities will culminate on the 29th with the dedication of a new entrance sign for the city, funded by $8,000 in community donations and a $2,000 grant from Kootenai Electric Cooperative.

The sign was designed and built by Bayview residents Theresa and David Long of Lakeland Company Inc., who have contracted work across the nation for companies like Cabela’s.

“I think it (the citizens’ donations) shows people in Bayview really care about the community,” said Hackbarth, who was on the fundraising committee. “It’s once in a lifetime. One hundred years doesn’t come around very often.”

The dedication at 10:30 a.m. will follow with a series of historic walking tours through the city, given by Hackbarth, who has written books and made a DVD about Bayview’s past, as well as local history buffs Herb Huseland and Ralph Jones.

Sites will include the century-old kilns that prepped limestone after it was mined from Bayview quarries, the Buttonhook restaurant that was transformed from a float home in the ’30s, as well as the depot from the railroad that cut through the city in the early 20th century.

“If you have any interest in history or you want to learn more about the community of Bayview, we’d love to tell you about it,” Hackbarth said.

The tours will run every half hour from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. A barbecue will also be held at the Bayview Community Center from 4 to 6 p.m.

For more information, go to www.bayviewhs.com.

Visitors might discover something special, Hackbarth said.

“Most people who have come out here to live or retire, when asked, ‘Why did you come here?’ say, ‘We dropped down the hill and saw this beautiful view and never wanted to leave,’” she said.
